The Arts Festival in Wedmore is fast becoming a regular feature of village life, attracting local residents as well as those from further afield. As always our performers include a mixture of household names as well as those who are still on the first rungs of the ladder leading to fame and fortune! And of course we are again delighted to welcome some of our own home-grown talent. We welcome back this year the brilliantyoung violinist Poppy McGhee, whose phenomenal talent WAF continues to support in a number of ways.
And in a new departure for the Festival we have introduced a Wedmore Literary Evening featuring local writers discussing what inspires their creative juices to flow so effectively. Wedmore Arts Festival is a ‘not for profit’ organisation which exists to promote the tradition of arts-based events in the area by staging a broad range of high-quality creative activities designed to bring together diverse aspects of our community. The Festival also aims to give local people access to high profile performers not normally associated with village events, whilst at the same time providing a platform for local talent.
Wedmore Arts Festival would like to thank the people of Wedmore and the surrounding area for their support and encouragement, with particular thanks to our very generous Sponsors: Acorn Property, Wedmore Parish Council, Dennis and Pauline Briaris, Wells Reclamation, Mowbarton Estate.
We would also like to thank the Isle of Wedmore News for their support, and our hosts for the use of their venues: St Mary’s Church, John and Tessa Podpadec for the Barn at Lerburne House, the Wedmore Village Hall Committee and The Swan Wedmore.
Thanks also to Suzanne Metters for her very generous hospitality at Beggar’s Roost and to Sophie and her staff at the Village Store for supplying our wine and for agreeing to sell tickets for us – yet again!
Tickets can be bought online or in person from the Wedmore Village Stores.
