Guest soloist Poppy McGhee - guest spot with The
During the choir’s 95-year history it has seen many changes including a recent reinvigoration and injection of new talent. Now some 40 strong, the choir has been honed to high levels of precision by dynamic Musical Director Tracey Hansford. With this spirited new wealth of experience and enthusiasm the rejuvenated choir delivers wonderful four-part harmonies with crisp and bold interpretations of a wide range of musical genres. The programme that opens the 2018 Wedmore Arts Festival will feature a broad repertoire including traditional, classical, popular and sacred pieces as well as some sensational contemporary works guaranteed to raise the roof!
The choir’s concerts often double as fundraisers with £3,500 being raised last year alone for various local causes. In Wedmore the singers will be helping raise money for Avalon Camps, a hugely worthwhile local cause.
Guest spot: solo violinist Poppy McGhee is a 13-year old from Wookey whose enormous talent and potential has already been acknowledged. WAF are delighted to welcome Poppy for her debut appearance at Wedmore Arts Festival and look forward to supporting her career in the future.
