The Magnetic Diaries – a poetry-play by Sarah James featuring Vey Straker
Thursday 13 July, 7.30pm,
Vey Straker is the performer of this electrifying poetry-play which turns Flaubert's Madame Bovary into an English woman of the 21st century with all the paraphernalia that entails: depression and therapy, but also love and tenderness.
The play has already been well received at festivals around the country and we are privileged to welcome such a ground-breaking production to Wedmore. One of our stated aims is to 'give local people access to high profile performers not normally associated with village events'
‘An exceptionally fine piece of poetic writing, beautifully crafted and wonderfully performed. This is one of those rare theatrical experiences that I will never forget. It deals bravely with a challenging subject while never failing to be first class theatre. I was spellbound from the beginning to the end.’
Chris Green, former Director of The Poetry Society
‘brought mesmerisingly to life by Vey Straker … a moving, enlightening and thoughtprovoking piece of theatre … Vey Straker caught the tone and mood perfectly’
